Jeff Volk; Poet, Producer and Publisher

For the past 25 years, Jeff Volk has been popularizing the science of Cymatics, which demonstrates through simple physics experiments, how “inert” matter can be “animated” into life-like flowing forms by the unseen forces of vibration.

The implications of these experiments are vast, and have inspired profound insights into the hidden realms of nature, in many who have seen them. These insights pertain not only to our world at large, but also in deeply personal ways to the subtle realms of human nature, which are often just as mysterious.

As a producer, his 1992 documentary, Of Sound Mind and Body: Music and Vibrational Healing, won the Hartley Film Award through the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Its phenomenal success inspired him to produce The International Sound Colloquium throughout the 1990s, which was to become the premier conference exploring the power of sacred sound and healing music. He has distilled this wealth of experience into multimedia presentations and a variety of feature articles, which have been published worldwide.

His company, MACROmedia Publishing, focuses on books and electronic media, which inspire and enlighten the discerning spiritual seeker. Jeff’s penetrating poetry springs from pondering how these universal principles of cause and effect that are demonstrated objectively in the realms of physics by Cymatics, play out subjectively in our personal lives.

His work spans a wide range of topics, but always seeks to offer a wider perspective and an inclusiveness that integrates the disparate…in ways that only poetry can. The Ambiguity of Autumn: Poems of Love, Longing and Transcendence is his first book of poetry.

Review of Tao of Sound

I just read John Beaulieus review of Fabien Mamans new book, The Tao of Sound, and I found it to be a very thoughtful, gracious and respectful contemplation. Would that more of our sound community might make such efforts to further the overall work by supporting read more

Insights into the invisible world of sound (Courtesy of Caduceus Magazine)

We live in a vast ocean of sound, whose infinite waves ripple the shores of our awareness in myriad patterns of intricate design and immeasurably complex vibrations … permeating our bodies, our psyches, to the very core of our being. read more

FROM VIBRATION TO MANIFESTATION: Assuming our Rightful Place in Creation

Cymatics, the study of wave phenomena and vibration, is a scientific methodology that demonstrates the vibratory nature of matter and the transformational nature of sound. It is sound science at its finest, and its implications are vast! The term (Kymatiks in German), was adapted from the Greek word for wave, ta Kyma, in the 1960s by Swiss medical doctor and natural scientist, Hans Jenny (1904-1972). read more

Tonoscope - Christian Stuten

A demonstration of Hans Jennys original acoustic tonoscope, showing how the human voice can create harmonic patterns in sand spread over a taut rubber membrane. Christian Stuten was Jennys assistant for 14 years, and photographed most of the images in the book Cymatics: A Study of Wave Phenomena and Vibration.

Cymatic Soundscapes - Excerpt

These experiments were performed by Hans Jenny in the 1960s. Here he vibrates Lycopodium,(a fine powder which is actually the spores of a club moss) using audible sound. The powder rises up from the surface of the taut rubber membrane, and creates a variety of amazing phenomena. At certain frequencies,

Hidden Worlds: Cymatics intro

The first minute of a 5-minute mini-documentary produced for PBS, Philadelphias Hidden Worlds series, by John N. Campbell. This program highlights the amazing work of contemporary German Cymatics researcher, Alexander Lauterwasser, showing how he employs audible sound to create near perfect analogues of patterns and forms found throughout naturefrom leopard
