Sheila Whittaker

Sheila Whittaker is a Therapist and Sound Healer with a background in classical music – she is a professional violinist & musician, having studied at the Royal College of Music & graduated with a GRSM degree & ARCM diploma. For nearly twenty years she had a thriving career in the mainstream classical music world, freelancing with many orchestras & chamber groups & running a teaching practise alongside her performing work.

She did further training with Simon Heather and Don Conreaux, and has now specialised in using very high quality large gongs in her Sound Healing work.

Sheila is gong tutor for the College of Sound Healing, teaching the Gong modules, Chant/Mantra, & Harmonium workshops. She authored & teaches the one-year Gong Practitioner Training course for the College. For two years she was Chairperson for the College.

She has recorded three Gong CD’s – “Transcendence”, “Quantum Transformations”, &“Sounds of Stillness”. In 2010 she wrote & published her first book :“Sound Healing with Gongs – a Gong book for Beginners”. Sheila has appeared on the radio, & has gong videos on YouTube. She is a member of the CMA & the UK Sound Healers Association, & has a private therapy & teaching practice in Honiton, Devon.

Chant/Mantra & Harmonium Workshop, Sheila Whittaker, Eastcott Barn, Sheldon, Honiton, Devon EX14 4QU, 26 May 2012

This workshop is a combined chant/mantra & harmonium workshop – we will concentrate on chant & mantra in the morning session, & an introduction to the harmonium in the afternoon. It is suitable for those who are interested in the power of chant & mantra, both for use in Sound Healing & as part of a spiritual practise, & for self development. It is suitable for all – whether seasoned chanters or novices – the day will be structured to suit the group. Sheila has developed this unique workshop to meet an obvious need for people who want to learn to play the harmonium (miniature organ) to accompany their chanting. In the afternoon session it will help if you already have some knowledge of the piano keyboard, but this is not essential, as tuition will be given. Simple music & handouts will be provided so that students can continue their practise at home. Numbers will be limited so that individual attention can be given to participants. Please email Sheila for a detailed information flyer.
