Greece, AGISTRI - Dru Yoga and Singing in Greece, Trixi Field, Rosy's Little Village, Skliri, Agistri. Greece, 26 Sep 2015

This relaxing & refreshing 1-week retreat takes place on 26 Sept – 4 October on Agistri, a delightful tiny island nestling in the Saronic Sea, close to Aegina. Only a fairly short hop by boat or hovercraft from the port of Piraeus, once there, it feels as though you're a million miles from the stresses of everyday life. Accommodation, breakfast, and the courses take place at Rosy's Little Village, with fantastic views over the sea, towards Aegina.

What is the retreat all about?
Here’s a chance for you to get away from it all for a week, to wake up to the beautiful Agistri dawn enjoying the wonderful flowing form of yoga known as Dru Yoga. After breakfast, The Power of Harmony: discover your voice, and how the very act of singing together can lift the soul, no matter whether you think you can sing or not.

The Proposed Schedule
Saturday 26 September:
Arrival, welcome drink & settle in. Meet Rosy and Nondas, get to know each other and chat about how the courses run. For those who have a bit of energy after the journey, we might take a little stroll through the main village of Skala.

Sunday - Tuesday 27-29 September:
First thing: Early morning Dru Yoga class on the terrace overlooking the sea. Ideally at dawn – Agistri dawns are splendid and worth getting up for! Some sessions may take place in other beautiful locations nearby. Sessions are an hour and a half. Following this, a sumptuous breakfast supplied by our lovely host, Rosy. Around 10.30/11.00 am: The Power of Harmony singing workshop on the terrace. Sessions are an hour and a quarter. Afternoons/evenings free

Wednesday 30 September Day off – enjoy exploring the little corners of Agistri, pop over to Aegina to do a bit of shopping, or just lounge around by the water. On this day, if available, we may be able to organise a day trip on Nondas’ boat, depending on weather and availability – this would be an additional activity that we could arrange together with Nondas on arrival. Cost of this would be additional.

Thursday-Saturday 1-3 October
As Sunday – Tuesday.

More about Dru Yoga
Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. It has its roots in hatha yoga, and includes classical yoga postures (asanas), pranayama (breath) mudras (hand gestures), positive affirmations, empowering visualisations and powerful sequences performed in a flowing and dynamic style.
Over the week we will be practicing some Dru Energy Block Release sequences and beautiful yoga sequences. Don't worry if you have never done Dru or any other form of yoga before. Classes will be aimed to suit the needs and abilities both of beginners and those who have some experience of Dru or any other form of yoga.

More about The Power of Harmony
This workshop is not about perfection or performance, but about learning to appreciate and enjoy our voices without automatically switching on our inner critics. The sessions combine the essential tools of singing – breathing, mindful listening, vocal techniques – with uplifting songs and harmonies for your enjoyment. Harmonic singing is a lot easier than we imagine it to be and is a very powerful way to send your spirit soaring – this is the Power of Harmony. Don’t worry about whether you think you can or can't sing: Trixi provides an empathic and supportive group context where you can explore and learn to appreciate your own voice, and delight in the warm companionship of group singing. We work very much with developing and enhancing a natural way of singing.

More about your facilitator, Trixi Field

Singer, voice workshop facilitator, pianist, author & composer, Trixi believes that in our noisy, busy, hi-tech society we have become separated from the simple, healing joys of singing and music making together—an essential part of being human. She regularly runs voice workshops in the UK and abroad.

She has an MA (music education), an MEd, a DipLCM in Popular Vocals, and has trained in Creative Music Making in the Classroom (Orff Institute, Mozarteum, Austria,) and jazz (Trinity College of Music, London). She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners' Network.

Trixi has frequently observed the healing and mood-enhancing effects of singing and music making, and, thus inspired, is now also a fully qualified Sound Healing Practitioner and Tutor with the College of Sound Healing. Her voice workshops count as an additional module for the College courses.

Trixi's love of yoga prompted her to train to teach Dru Yoga at the Dru Centre in Snowdonia and is now a qualified Dru teacher and member of the Dru Professional Network. She lives in North Shropshire with her Cavalier King Charles, Harry (aka the Savasana King).
