Exmouth Drum Circle. Come and join us on the second Thursday of every month for a freestyle drum circle, no drumming experiance is necessary. I provide drums and other percussion instruments. I will start with giving everyone a shamanic journey; this tends to bring people into a good mind space, The shamanic journey is 30 minutes running from 6.00pm to 6.30pm, doors will be shut at this point to avoid interruptions. You are free to come along and leave when you want to, its not necessary to stay for the complete three hours. Tea, Coffee and biscuits are served at nine o'clock. The remaining time will be spent freestyle drumming (everyone having a drum or other percussion instruments and just playing). This may begin as complete chaos but can soon take on a group energy and gel into a musical experience. All of a sudden everyone is improvising, experiencing, and talking with their drum. The drum becomes a deeply personal form of communication and expression. Drumming conversations begin to emerge as people become connected beyond the music being played. No previous drumming is necessary, everyone can drum. I will hold the space but not really take charge here; this is a time to be free and express yourself through the drum, to create your own rhythm and merge as a group. This is a time to get lost in the drum and enjoy the experience. I will play throughout this session to be of support to the group but I will not be taking a leading role. There is freedom to play as much or as little as you would like; you may want to change instruments part way through, and this is fine. Also, you may want to dance, sing or just sit down and close your eyes and experience the drumming - be free to do what feels right for you.
