Affairs of the Heart: Soulmates - The Uncommon Bond A weekend workshop to address the joys and sorrows of romantic love relationships and to explore the nature of the soulmate bond. This workshop is offered by Karen Williams, therapist in training at The Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, London. We will sit in circle for the telling and hearing of our stories, the sharing of information from research about soulmate and other interpersonal bonds, and the processing of heart material. The emergent wisdom that collects at the centre of such a circle offers insight, clarity and healing. “Informative, creative, heartwarming and fun!” There is a small body of academic research which documents the characteristics of soulmate bonds in romantic love relationships and is working towards distinguishing between this type of attachment bond and other types of romantic interpersonal relationships. This includes the work of Achterberg, Young, Brown, Boyce and others. We will be looking at some of this information during the weekend and exploring how it enables us to tell the difference between what Jeff Brown refers to as Wound-Mates and Soul-Mates. Love relationships bring up our unresolved emotional material and the stronger the connection, the stronger this effect tends to be. We will be working with these ideas and doing some gentle processing and healing. Circle work provides a safe, boundaried space with some transpersonal characteristics all of its own! Who is this workshop for? •People wishing to explore the soulmate aspects of their current or a past romantic relationship. •People whose lives have been affected by someone else's soulmate relationship. •People who feel they have not yet found their soulmate, or who are unsure and wish to gain understanding about the nature of a soulmate relationship. The workshop will include: •Psychological and spiritual understandings of love relationships. •The "uncommon bond" of soulmates distinguished from healthy but non-soulmate relationships. •Exploring the concept of wound-mates vs soul-mates. •Unhealthy/dysfunctional types of relationships that can masquerade as soulmate relationships. •Shadow work with guided visualisations. •Soundscape: working with individual participants' intentions for expression and processing, the group will design and perform a soundscape - using crystal bowls and Himalayan singing bowls, gong, drums and percussion.
