UK, SUSSEX - UK GONG CAMP with Mitch Nur, PhD and Guests, Graham Bater and Mitch Nur, PhD, Emerson College, Pixton, Hartfield Road, RH18 5JX Forest Row, 11 Jul 2016

What is the 9ways Gong Camp? An intensive week of Gong studies examining the history, cultures, therapeutic uses, different types and styles, metaphysical approaches, playing exercises, Gong accessories, and much more. Mitch Nur, PhD who has been playing Gongs for well over 4 decades and has a personal collection of over 50 hanging Gongs, and hundreds of resting Gongs from all the world's Gong cultures, blends the science with the experiential which makes this a dynamic learning experience. Students will encounter a mentoring program that increases awareness, ability, and confidence. The Gong is a powerful shifter of consciousness, and has been used for millenniums by ancient civilizations in ritual and ceremony. It's storied past from the temples of lost cultures to the leading sound tool in yoga studios is a fascinating adventure. This program examines the tonal alchemy and metaphysical approaches with an emphasis on how to use the Gong's frequency domains as a psycho-acoustical entry point for shifting consciousness. The Gong technician who can reach a place of non-conceptuality and locality can use the Gong as a wheelhouse to alter Time and Space.

This program does not focus on one type of Gong, like so many other programs do. We are not judging one type of Gong over another, nor are we teaching you a particular philosophy. We are teaching you solely about Gongs, showcasing all the different types, styles, and manufacturers. You are then the judge, to what type of Gong sounds good to you, without any bias or endorsement from any maker. You will leave this program knowledgeable, empowered, elevated, and confident. Something else to take into consideration, we are ONLY teaching you the Gong, without mixing in any other instruments, taking away valuable time, to learn the most about the Gong. We also do not teach a specific philosophical jargon in regards to the Gong. The Gong is it's own philosophy, which is shared by many philosophical traditions in the world, we are solely teaching you about one of the most powerful sound instruments in the world, which is why it has been adopted by many of the world's spiritual traditions. No one spiritual tradition can claim this instrument. Because the Gong is capable of erasing all conceptions, it can also transform all conditions.

Gong Camp is an important step for all those new to the Gong, as well as those who are playing and using the Gong in personal practice or for groups. A strong foundation and knowledge base is a necessary step in becoming proficient with this instrument, and allowing yourself to be stretched further, by new ideas and concepts broadening and enriching your expertise. In a nutshell, this program is focused on everything that is Gong, and your relationship with it.

Mitch has invited the UK's only cymbalsmith and Gong maker, Matt Nolan to the program to offer insights on how Gongs are made, and to open you to the science of Gong manufacturing and acoustics.

Gong Camp will feature an enormous amount of playing time, including live performances in the evening. The emphasis is to make everyone who attends this program gain more wisdom, enabling them to become self assured in their abilities with the Gong.

In order to secure lodging at Emerson College, early registration is strongly advised. There are only a limited amount of private rooms available at Emerson. The program will begin at noon time on the 11th, and conclude at noon on the 17th.

UPDATE ONE: There's going to be a few twists and turns in this UK program that has not been offered in past Gong Camps I have hosted. I plan on spending some time addressing how to use the Gong in one on one therapy sessions through demonstrations. I will most likely present this aspect during one or two evening workshops. Because the Gong is becoming more popular as a therapy instrument, I feel a serous examination is needed. I have been using the Gong as a therapy tool for over 4 decades, so I will have a lot to share in this respect.

UPDATE TWO: I have invited Matt Nolan to join me in this camp to better acquaint everyone in the Art of Gong making. Matt makes some of the best sounding Gongs in the world, and I feel everyone coming out to the Gong Camp will not only appreciate his information on how Gongs are made, but his thoughts on Gong acoustics as well.

UPDATE THREE: The aim of Gong Camps that I host, is centered around 2 aspects: Education and Mentoring. Your going to receive many facts that even long time Gong artists are probably not aware off, and hours of playing time, with tips on how to become a better player, and insights on the psycho-acoustical presentation of the Gong.
