Yogini, the Tibetan version of Kali, is surrounded by flames.
Goddess Kali, the fierce incarnation of Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva.
The story behind the scene here is that the gods called upon Kali to destroy the demons that were creating havoc throughout the world. After her victory over the demons she was overjoyed and started the dance of death. In her ecstasy she continued the destruction and even the gods could not calm her. Shiva had to intervene by throwing himself amongst the bodies of the slain demons, then when Kali saw that she was dancing over the body of her husband, she abrubtly stopped and her tongue protuded in surprise.
