The Nature of Sound at Hawkwood College

THE NATURE OF SOUND

A free unhindered voice expresses human energy, health and being. It intimately connects us with our musicality and creativity.   In this unique one-day workshop at Hawkwood College, Tim will invite participants to explore two ideas - that of the sound-world of our natural environment - birdsong, wind, traffic, the natural sounds of human expression - and a feeling for sound's own nature, sound's own soul.

"Through deep listening and playful exploration, embodied singing becomes a dialogue and dance of our being with its sense of connectedness in the world," says Tim, a singer, performer, composer and teacher with a background in theatre, music, movement and cranio-sacral therapy. He studied for many years with a teacher in South India, and works with the Seven Shining Tones of Indian music.  Using his in-depth knowledge, listening and compassion he helps students develop The Way of Tuning and learn to trust in their own felt experience and their personal expression.

No experience is necessary and all are welcome.

The day costs £74 including a delicious lunch, refreshments and an evening concert. Saturday 29th September 8.00-9.30pm The Grape and the Coconut: A concert of South Indian devotional songs.  with Tim Jones & friends £7 entry (free to course participants)

"We can only sing in the present moment, much as we can only breathe in the present moment. As such singing can be a gateway into an experience of the present, and give a revelation of deeper identity through the voice."

Jonathan Nunn, student of Tim Jones
