Bass, with a range of C4-E5, is the deepest pendent style 6 hole ocarina. The sound is reminiscent of doves cooing in the evening. The tone is relaxing, and expansive. You can feel it reverberate in your chest.
Your breath powers the instrument. Your fingers define which notes you will play. You can play a complete chromatic scale with all the sharps and flats. A great range of dynamics is possible, with many different blowing styles and effects.
The note range of the Bass is an octave and third.
Although you can learn to play the Ocarina well in a short amount of time, you can spend years improving your technique, discovering new scales and modes, new blowing techniques and articulation, new rhythms, developing speed, precision, sliding into notes, ornaments as played in different musical styles, and learning new tunes from various sources.
