Udu or Ibo drums originate from Nigeria and are played by rhythmically opening and closing the side-hole with the palm of the hand.
This produces a deep bass tone, reminiscent of the sound of the Indian tabla.
The bass tone is combined with the body sound, a clear and stony percussive sound, which is created by hitting any part of the pot with the fingers.
Here we offer Udu drums from Indonesia, Italy and Germany made from clay, wood and fibreglass, and traditional clay Potes from Brazil.
