Udu Drum Variation with Birch Wood Drumhead
Despite sounding similar to Udu, Darbuka, Tabla and Talking Drum, the Cajudoo - developed and made by Hands on Drums - is an all new instrument in its own right. The proximity of the playing surface to the sound hole produces new and unusual sounds.
It's drumhead is made of laminated birch veneer. The Cajudoo is easy to play with traditional hand-percussion techniques. The sound is bright, crisp and with a short sustain, but a low and warm bass sound with a bit longer sustain.
