The peoples of Mongolia prize singing and sung poetry, and this album, collected by Jean Jenkins, includes remarkable examples of highly ornamented lyrical song. The accompaniments and instrumental music are chiefly on the morinxuur (two-stringed fiddle) or limbe (flute), but there are also recordings of the yatga (zither), yenchin (hammered dulcimer) and jaw harp.
