It's no secret that I'm passionate about using sound to help improve health and wellbeing - I've been completely captivated by sound therapy since it played a big part in helping me to recover from ME and chronic anxiety disorder in 1994. Since then I've been on a mission to discover how and why it can be such a powerful healing tool and over the years I have loved learning, researching and sharing.
When I started composing therapeutic music I honestly did not think that recorded sound could be as powerful as a live sound therapy session but in 2011 I was to be proved wrong when I collaborated with ambient music trio Marconi Union and the result went viral! The track 'Weightless' became a worldwide sensation and has resulted in almost 350 million streams and counting! I decided to go back to Uni and study an MSC in Applied Music Psychology and during my research discovered that recorded therapeutic sound and music affects mind, body and emotions in profound and surprising ways. Many people can go into an altered state of consciousness when they listen to music through headphones that is different from a live sound therapy session. As I discussed in a previous article, regular periods of time in ASC can have a profound affect on our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health.
LifeSonics is the result of over 10 years of research and development and I'm still learning more. The music that I create is designed in a specific way for different therapeutic outcomes. Some pieces address multiple outcomes - a relaxation piece may also be beneficial for pain relief and sleep for example. When you visit the LifeSonics website you have several choices. You can browse the complete library or hone in on a specific collection such as the 'Anxiety Collection' or the dark and delicious 'Noir Collection', that features pieces that are a little darker and mysterious than some of the other collections. The pieces vary in length from a few minutes to over an hour and some pieces are complete music medicine treatments that take you on a journey and bring you back with a grounding piece at the end. If you want to go deeper you can ask for a 'Sonic Prescription©' by answering questions about your current state of health and wellbeing and a bespoke music medicine treatment will be created for you. All you need to do is put on some headphones, lay back and immerse yourself in therapeutic sound and music! New pieces will be added regularly as LifeSonics develops.
I'd love you to try LifeSonics and let us know what you think. There is a no-obligation 7 day free trial that you can enjoy and if you sign up for and you then have the choice to take a monthly or annual subscription.
