Michael Ormiston
Michael Ormiston is a composer, performer, teacher, "soundician and music writer". He is a multi-instrumentalist who specializes in Mongolian Khöömii (overtone) singing, being one of the only non-Mongolians able to sing Khöömii. He has travelled to Mongolia 6 times, firstly in 1993 where he was taught the sacred and secular ways of Khöömii with master keeper of the tradition,Tserendavaa in the Jargalant Altai Mountains. Michael is the only European blessed to teach Khöömii by Tserendavaa and Gereltosgt which he has done internationally for the past 15 years. In 2011 Michael was awarded "The International Outreach Award" by the Mongolian Association in the UK for his special contribution to the promotion of Mongolia's rich cultural heritage and is the regular overtone singer for the Mongolian Embassy in the UK. 
Michael is an expert Tibetan Singing Bowl and Gong practitioner, having been blessed in 1995 to lead sound Meditations by the Venerable Khamba Lam Choijampts, The Abbot of Gandan Monastery, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. He leads workshops, evenings, individual lessons and gives Therapeutic Sound massages using the Singing Bowls, Gongs, Overtone/Undertone Singing, Shaman's drum, Native American Flute and many other musical instruments. Michael is the main workshop leader for the "Colourscape" structure where apart from performing and running the “colour of sound workshops”, he leads therapeutic sound sessions among children and adults with autism, downs syndrome, moderate to profound and multiple learning difficulties.
