Songkeeper News

It has been awhile since I've posted and I have exciting news to share. Over the past several years I have been out of the public eye teaching. But I have continued to stay busy My juvenile fictiion novel Emma Oliver and the Song of Creation was published in 2016 and since then I have been co-writing a musical based on Emma's journeys with the talented composer and pianist Susanna Bearfoot We have finished our rough draft and have co-written 28 songsYou can watch an interview I did with TreeSisters and even hear a snippet of a song

I have been very involved with TreeSisters for the past five years and have an important announcement to make

10 years ago I created an event called Earth Day-Sing for the Trees and posted it as an event on Facebook.  Since then over 10,000 people from 45 countries and 48 U.S. states have sung to trees. It has been a joy to share this love song for our trees and to be the guardian of this event. Now, on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and as I turn 70, I pass the baton to the wonderful charity TreeSisters who have planted close to 9 million trees.

Last year TreeSisters did their own Sing for the Trees event for International Women's Day and In total there were 72 events hosted in 21 countries. It feels so auspicious to be joining forces with TreeSisters. SInger and Natural Voice Practitioner Liz Terry of Stroud is the facilitator for the TreeSisters event and is offering free support calls. I will be doing an online Finding Your Voice for them on March 25. A Coordinators Kit including songs is included when you sign up here

This year Sing for the Trees is a fundraiser for the global tropical forests. We’re doing this to raise awareness of the importance of the world’s trees to our survival, and to raise funds to plant tropical trees and restore our forests.

This activity honours our connection to Nature, each other and the trees by singing to, for and with the trees. It will be a beautiful, nourishing and connecting activity to participate in.

Join the Love Song for our Trees. Now, more than ever, we need to raise awarenss about all that trees do for us.
