Not the usual event advertised here! A straightforward concert of my own music - no upmarket tricks or 'exciting' razzmatazz! Rather than an ersatz 'high' the aim in my composing has always been to appeal to the deeper sensibilities in hearers - in a word, groundedness. Hence I avoid terms like 'new music' (though of course it is) or 'modernist' (though I use techniques associated with that) because the connotations are out of kilter with what I do. Hence too, placing the advert on this site: I have been exploring the meanings behind the sounds for a very long time, and have I think played my modest part in spreading the word!
I have watched with great pleasure the younger practitioners and teachers arriving to do their bit on this site: carrying forward and expanding the message - hooray! Some of you are younger than my children: realizations of the true structure of the world seem to be coming earlier. A heartening thought.
My old friend and fellow musician Mike Bardsley will be ensuring on the day that all is as it should be for the players to do their wonderful best and the audience to enjoy. A great day for me! I hope some of you will be able to share it with me.
