, A Journey Into Primordial Rhythm, Barry Mason & Lina Lotto, Hawkwood College, 10 Jun 2012
A chance to explore the cycles of life expressed through music in every culture. The day focuses on different aspects of rhythm, expressed with a range of easy-to-play instruments from around the world (including your own body!). In particular we will be working with the hang (an increasingly popular metal percussion form played with the fingertips)and udu (double-ended clay drum) which allow melody and rhythm to be effortlessly combined. Simple movement and relaxation exercises are also included. No previous experience of music or drumming is necessary, and instruments will be provided.
