Join us for a very special evening of devotional chanting on Saturday 23rd April. I am releasing my new Kirtan CD 'Give It All Away For Love' on 15th April. It has been over a year in the making and I really wanted to celebrate its birthing with a Kirtan featuring those musicians and singers who appear on the CD. I am delighted to be joined by Tabla Tom who has recorded, mixed and produced the CD as well as adding his phenomenal tabla playing and percussion. The multi-talented Martin Solomon will be joining us on violin and harp and Vaishnavi Pikka Brassey will be adding her beautiful vocals. I will have further vocal support from some of the CD's bhakti choir including Bea Martin, David Johnson & Chez Dunford. It's going to be awesome (as my son would say!)...
There is only one more ingredient needed and that is your participation! It is the shared nature of the practice that makes it so wonderful. When our voices join together we can feel that oneness, that connection, that bliss.
Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots go back over 500 years to India. It is a practice from Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion) and has the sublime power to open the heart. By repeating simple mantras over and over, kirtan is an effortless way to experience some freedom from the daily chatter of the mind, taking us deeper into stillness and silence.
Kirtan is for everyone. No prior experience of chanting is necessary to gain the many benefits it has to offer, simply an openness to what may occur. Through chanting, you meet the practice exactly where you need to. This might be finding a still point of relaxation after a hectic week at work, or the joy of singing together, of opening our hearts, offering our prayers to the Divine, or simply being present to the one moment.
