Harp Workshop with focus on new music and improvisation patterns
19th-22nd June 2014
We will discover the therapeutic quality of the harp while making music together in a community.
In this workshop we will learn how to create healing music on the harp. Beginning harp players will learn easy melodies while seasoned players will join in at their level of playing.
This is also an opportunity for those who would like to facilitate Harp Circles in communities, schools, yoga centers, support groups and for those with training in healthcare facilities. The COLOR MY WORLD with Harps program is an extension of the Rainbow of Sound® Harp Circles, where harp players throughout the world are taking sets of six rainbow colored harps into various facilities and help participants create joyous music. To put this into practice we will visit a local care home for the elderly.
We will also work on Improvisation as it is taught in the International Harp Therapy Program to address the needs of individuals. Information will be available how you can make therapeutic harp a career.
Participants in the workshop will be able to join in the concert on Saturday evening.
Christina Tourin (USA) is a second generation harpist having taught music in both public schools and Steiner Schools. She is the Founder of the International Harp Therapy Program and the Rainbow of Sound® Harp Circles. Healing with music and sound vibrations in hospitals and hospices, traveling, composing, teaching and writing books round out her full life. Her latest endeavors is the COLOR MY WORLD with Harps program that reaches out for community music-making, especially for those needing uplifting.
The small harp is one of the easiest instruments to learn and in just four days we will have songs of Nature & Healing, Love & Beauty, Stillness & Tranquility, Hope & Inspiration and Strength & Courage. We will also learn Bhajans and how to improvise on the harp for every level of playing.
Limited to 12 people. (3 spaces now open) If you have your own harp or access to a harp then we will allow more participants.
Requirements: Love of Music – Beginners welcome!
Course Fee: 220€
