This Introductory Gong workshop (plus Gong Puja) is an introduction to the use of Gongs for Sound Healing. This is a mixed-ability workshop & the day will be structured to suit the group. No previous experience of the Gong is required to attend – complete beginners are very welcome. We will briefly cover the history and current-day work with the gong in Sound Healing and therapy situations, and learn techniques for playing. There will be plenty of hands-on opportunity for participants to practise and connect with this powerful healing instrument. The workshop will be facilitated by Gongmaster Sheila Whittaker, gong tutor for the College of Sound Healing.
Participants in the Introductory Gong workshop will be able to attend and participate in the all-night Gong Puja which will follow. The Gong Puja is included in the price of the workshop, and is an ideal opportunity for Gong beginners to experience the Gong Puja ceremony following their introduction to the gong work during the one-day workshop. Participants on the workshop will learn enough to be able to take part in the all-night Gong Puja. Puja participants bring their bedding and sleep in the Puja space while the gongs are played non-stop throughout the night. This is a very powerful healing experience, and is a wonderful opportunity for novice Gong players to meet and participate in a Gong Puja ceremony with more experienced Gong players who will attend for the Puja alone. N.B. The Puja alone is not open to Gong beginners - they must attend the day-workshop first, in order to attune to the powerful healing energies that will be created during the Puja Ceremony.
