The Native American flute is an amazing tool for transforming emotions, expressing your creativity and connecting with your inner self. It can easily take you to a meditative and peaceful state of mind while improving your breathing. This beginner workshop is an introduction to this instrument and you will learn basic techniques in a practical way. It is not necessary to know music in advanced as it is a very simple instrument and easy to play. Some of the things we will cover during the workshop are: - Anatomy of the flute. - Cultural context and some legends. - Posture and breathing. - Fingering. - Pentatonic scale. - Rhythm. - Playing from the hearth & playing from the mind. - Some basic effects. - Play in pairs (call-response). - Types of flutes and keys. - How to choose your flute. - Care of the flute. There will be flutes available for the ones who don’t have their own flute yet. It is possible to purchase one of these flutes for £65 but I will also give you information about buying online. You will get a manual that will be sent to you by email after the workshop. About the teacher: Belén has been playing the Native American flute for ten years and she has been giving workshops in Bristol for over a year. She is also a certified sound therapist and organises regular group sound journeys as well as giving one to one treatments.
