This workshop is run under the umbrella of the College of Sound Healing & counts as an extra module for the College Sound Healing training, but is also open to non College members & those who are interested in the power of chant & mantra, both for use in Sound Healing & as part of a spiritual practise & for self development. It is suitable for all – whether seasoned chanters or novices – the day will be structured to suit the group. In this workshop we will learn mantras from a variety of cultures & traditions, although the main focus will be on Sanskrit mantra. The sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet have a particularly powerful healing & calming effect on the human organism; they also help to raise the spiritual energy & aid meditation. This has been known in Eastern traditions for many years but in the West as our culture gradually opens up to the "new" ancient ways, we are just beginning to catch up & realise the benefits of using the voice in this way.
Participants will learn simple Sanskrit pronunciation & be given some background knowledge of the tradition of Sanskrit mantra chanting. Simple music & handouts will be provided so that students can continue their practise at home. We will learn simple & more complex mantras, & students can expect to end the day in a very high energetic state!
