As we deepen our connection with body, mind, earth and spirit, a space to allow more of our true nature to emerge. What resonates from this nature when we create space for it, and how can music, chant and sound support us to retune our frequencies and to reweave connection and interconnection?

In this collaborative and experiential workshop day, James and Matthew will be holding space with a number of offerings which you are invited to experience and join in with in whatever way feels comfortable and supportive for you. This will include reflective body practices, an opportunity to sit or lie and be immersed in a live improvised musical soundscape, an invitation to spend some outdoor time to explore the beautiful landscaped garden of Matara, and various sound and movement practices intended to support us in connecting with our true nature.

We will be exploring different avenues of vocal sound, complemented by simple Chi Kung like movements. There will be some chakra toning with movements, the undertaking of the Taoist healing sounds/movements for the organs of the body, a universal Buddhist mantra, a cleansing of the subtle energy field through the breath and an a projection of intuition, freedom and unity through collective improvisation.

No previous experience is needed, only the intentional desire to realize our true nature.

The Soundspirit courses of James D’Angelo have been featured at many of the leading venues and conferences in the UK and beyond. He is the author of The Healing Power of the Human Voice and Seed Sounds for Tuning the Chakras. www.soundspirit.co.uk

Matthew Heyse-Moore is a composer, musician and teacher based in Stroud. Whether composing his own music, playing or teaching, Matthew believes passionately in the power of music to touch the heart and move us deeply. Much of Matthew's own music takes its inspiration from natural landscapes and the timelessness of ancient chant. Matthew believes passionately in music as something to be experienced actively rather than heard passively, and part of his work seeks to explore ways in which non-musically-trained people can engage and be a part of a moving musical experience. He believes in the capacity for music to articulate experiences and to heal conflicts in a way that words cannot. https://matthewheysemoore.com https://matthewheysemoore.bandcamp.com/

We are anticipating that we may have different needs and wishes around Covid safety and this is intended as a space deeply respectful of these differences - we will not be assuming that you are OK to come really close to others, and there is an invitation to self care and community care in the way we navigate this together. We will check in about this early in the day.

Bring warm clothes ideally layered and maybe a blanket: although the space is heated, it might help you to feel cosy if you lie down or just want to sit and relax.

P?lease bring a packed lunch. Hot drinks will be provided.

As we plan the day, it's really helpful to know early who's coming, so we are asking attendees to register in advance so that we know we are in the window between our maximum and minimum numbers. We will limit numbers - if you would like to come, please book early!

T?he space has step-free access for wheelchairs. If you have any access needs please let us know. If you need or can offer a lift share, from Stroud or a station or somewhere else, we will do our best to put you in touch. There's a chance to indicate this when you register.

A word about pricing - we are offering a wide sliding scale rather than a single price for sessions, to reflect differences in means in our divided society and intending to make the event both accessible and sustainable. This is an experiment that may not be so familiar to us, and not something that is offered in Tesco or on Amazon. There's an invitation to feel into the heart, and to find what sits right, with an awareness that by contributing more you are enabling this offering to continue and also enabling more lower cost places to be offered. If you'd rather have a fixed cost and not to have to think about this, £45 is likely to be a sustainable amount per person per day. If you feel a call to come and would struggle to afford the lowest amount on the scale please don't be shy to get in touch - it feels a priority for everyone who wants to be here to have access: you can email me on [email protected] Feel free to get in touch as well with any questions.
