UK, GLOUCESTERSHIRE - Georgian Polyphonic Singing and Embodied Voice, Holly Taylor-Zuntz, Hawkwood, Painswick Old Road, Stroud, Glos, GL6 7QW, 01 May 2026
This weekend workshop dives into the rich tradition of Georgian polyphonic singing. You’ll learn songs in three-part harmony, from healing songs and sacred chants to joyful table songs. Each piece comes from a different region of Georgia, offering variety and depth.
Holly leads the sessions with warmth and clarity. You’ll start with grounding exercises, breath work and gentle movement. These help release tension and prepare your voice. Holly includes vagus nerve exercises to calm the nervous system and support vocal freedom. She uses somatic techniques to help you feel the sound in your body and find a more authentic Georgian tone.
You’ll sing in small groups and as a whole group. There’s no need to read music. Holly teaches by breaking songs into easy parts and repeating together until they settle. You’ll explore how the harmonies fit and support each other.
The course also shares the stories and meanings behind the songs. You’ll hear about Georgian rituals, the role of music in community, and the emotions each song carries.
By the end of the weekend, you’ll feel more confident in your voice. You’ll sing with others, feel more grounded in your body, and carry with you the beauty of Georgian harmony.
