Singing together is the ultimate natural high: an all-over mind, body and soul
experience. It releases endorphins, is as natural as talking and, as with any
other physical endeavour, your voice develops with loving attention and
practice. Oh, and it's great fun!
Sing Out! is for every kind of singer; whether finding your voice for the first
time, reclaiming it, or continuing a path of vocal development. There are no
auditions, no solos and no need to be able to read music, as all songs will be
taught by ear, in the oral tradition. Sing Out! is a cornucopia of choral
delight!
There's something for everyone through this lovingly crafted course. We’ll
explore so many facets of group song - from building our ensemble to pitching,
singing in harmony, listening skills, dynamics, exploring rhythm, lyric writing
and arranging - with the option of performing at the end of the week. With
plenty of technical support and more than a dash of humour, Kirsty will equip
you with a vocal tool kit to bring out a sense of liberation and exhilaration in
your own musicianship.
A previous Sing Out! course participant reflects: "I found Kirsty to be a very
engaging, encouraging leader. She planned and set things up well, was really
clear about instructions and use of time, and did not push anything too far,
while getting the best out of us. I felt that she knew us all individually, and
that she was interested in creating more than just a singing group. She was a
lot of fun and I would recommend her to anyone, singers and non-singers alike."
Group singing has, of course, been particularly challenging during the pandemic.
Kirsty has been running Real Life sessions throughout, either outside, or inside
with social distancing and open windows (either option is a delight at Cortijo
Romero!) She will continue to take all precautions necessary for COVID safe
singing.

Kirsty Martin
Kirsty is an internationally renowned choral director, workshop leader and composer, who believes passionately that singing is for everyone. Her creative facilitation takes you on an empowering musical journey, as she works with set material, intuitive improvisation and vocal exploration. Kirsty's inclusive, liberating, energising, and often humorous approach will free and celebrate your wonderfully wild, natural voice!
Kirsty has worked with singers and actors of all kinds - from complete beginners to seasoned professionals - since 1996. She is Musical Director for Brighton's 100-strong Hullabaloo Community Quire ( www.hullabalooquire.org) and London's Raise the Roof choir, (www.raisetheroofchoir.org) as well as the Director of Bards and Ballads Choral Theatre Project. Kirsty is considered one of the Natural Voice Network's most prolific and popular composers of harmony-rich and deeply funky vocal music. She is a firm believer that 'singing is our birthright' and is passionately committed to reuniting us with our singing selves. Kirsty has been running the 'Sing Out!' week at Cortijo Romero for over a decade and is delighted to be returning for more creative poolside fun!
