Sounding Bowls
"There is a powerful healing force flowing through Sounding Bowls. Playing them makes you aware of this"
Touching the Heart Strings
A one day introduction to Sounding Bowls, their nature and use
October 22nd 2016 @ Blakedown Parish Rooms, 18 Belbroughton Road, Blakedown, DY10 3JG
10 am - 4.30pm
Touching the Heart Strings is the first in a series that will eventually build into a complete training in Sounding Bowl Therapy. New users are invited to follow this process as far as pleases them and we offer our support in every way.
In this workshop there are four levels on which we shall seek answers:
1. Understanding trees,
2. Sacred geometry,
3. work as meditation
4. welcoming the soul.
Playing the Bowls runs through all of these levels to bring us the quality of the sound itself; filling the day, filling the ears, opening the heart, warming the soul.
The second stage workshop Playing with Sound will explore musicality and Sounding Bowl techniques, bringing a new level of understanding and appreciation for what your instrument can offer.
Why, how do Sounding Bowls move the human heart so deeply?
What it is, how it flows and how it helps people as profoundly as it does is a mystery. That it does help people is well established, with government sponsored surveys in psychiatric work, pain management and comparative music therapy all yielding remarkable results.
People who have felt the effects vary from premature babies hovering on the edge of life whose monitors show a sudden deepening of breathing and strengthening of heartbeat when played to on a Sounding Bowl, through people of all ages being profoundly moved, sometimes to tears on first meeting/hearing one, to people with advanced dementia or in the very last stages of life, even from deep in coma, responding to a Sounding Bowl as to no other instrument or therapy.
"The sound of these instruments echoed on within me for days after the workshop"
Workshop Schedule
Understanding Trees
The deep wisdom embodied in the structure of a tree offers a steadying counterpart to the rush of modern life.
Discover how wood helps the healing properties of Sounding Bowls. Learn how meditating with "Tree" can calm and deepen your soul. This section of the workshop may be conducted outside, weather permitting.
Sacred Geometry
Circle, the endless round of containment
Line, the interminable direction of intent
Spiral, the everlasting unfolding of potential
Discover how the subconscious meaning of these three add into the healing power of Sounding Bowls.
This section involves group movement as we explore these effects directly.
Sounding Bowls are not 'manufactured.' Each one is hand crafted with loving care, and immense skill. Cutting wood attentively is a relational process that can become a meditation in itself. The whole 'company of skills' is run as a family, people come first, enabling a channel in each person to open for the healing power of real-care-in-work to come through.
Work as a meditation
This section introduces attitudes and practices that have the power to change the world.
Welcoming the Soul
One of the most powerful healing and development techniques is to make a person feel really, truly welcome. Feeling that there is truly room for us, a welcome for us in this world, Just as we Are, enables us to overcome so many obstacles in soul and body. We can welcome ourselves too.
In this stage we will use sound-meditation techniques that include: Note (frequency), Interval (harmony), Sequence (melody), and Interval-sequence (harmonic progressions) as powers to lead the soul into greater harmony with everyday life and our presence in this world.
Deepening ones feeling for the sounds that breathe and flow from a Sounding Bowl makes one feel 'welcome' in the heart. There is a powerful healing force flowing through Sounding Bowls. You too can be part of that.
