Apprentices of Vocal Tai Chi 'Risk and Share' their VTC, following a deep dive course which began in March 2023 and culminates this evening.
After a four month process which has involved three five day modules, in March, May and July, with a few weeks between each module, - this evening we allow space for each of the seven apprentices to step forward and bring their own unique Vocal Tai Chi into the aural infinity of your ears...
Each of the seven apprentices has come to this process with a 'start from where you are' approach and so each arrives here at the end of their journey at another moment in time - where they will again start from where they are. We are challeging the idea of starting and finishing, success and failure, good and bad, and any duality that breaks the thread of our multi-layered experience of our own aliveness - because - if we split from any aspect of ourselves something is lost to shadows and may act in us unknowingly. We practice remaining unseparated from all this is within us, as we are waking up to the privilege and apprecitation of living a fully human life..
At the root of Vocal Tai Chi is a journey of discovery into an essential aliveness drawn from the power and potential of natural, free voice in a solo vocal improviational landscape. This then can be a source for many things - and particularly in this training for working with other individuals in one to one settings. It is also therefore a grounding in the voice of the self - so that when you step into collaboration - you know a little more of who you are and what you can offer . The direction of travel is to an enriching multi-dimensional new, world-making experience for individuals, groups, audiences and communities.
