Healing song is probably one of the most powerful healing tools you will ever possess... Please read all the way down and let me explain... You are invited to a one day intensive workshop learning to sing with pure healing intention and to discover your own sacred healing song. All over the world and throughout history song has been used for healing and finding commune with each other and the earth. Songs are passed down to us through traditional healing cultures and others spring from our hearts. It was Hazrat Inayat Khan, the founder of the Sufi Order in the West who wrote in his book, The Mysticism of Sound and Music ~ "You may ask: 'What kind of music can heal man? Is it singing, playing, or something in the way of dance?' Singing is the most powerful, for singing is living. It is prana, it is life itself, it is voice. No doubt it is also life which is working through an instrument by the touch, but in singing it is direct life, the breath touching the heart of the listener. But what must be behind this voice? There must be a heart prepared with the help of the battery that it needs. What is that battery? That battery is what we call love and sympathy- the greatest power there is." I have been greatly inspired by the traditional healing songs of the Shipibo Conibo tribe in Peru. When translated, often their songs have a story or command which unfolds within the song, the meaning of which is directed with the highest healing intention in to the body, the effects are felt instantly and seem to continue to ripple outwards, having profound healing effect and lasting resonance. I have also seen first hand how the shaman deliver the song with not just a message using words and "vocables" that may, or may not, (in most cases) be understood with the rational mind, but perhaps even more potent are the frequencies, tones and intentions that can affect the listener in a profound way. My understanding of the sounds that can be developed and sung and directed within a healing icaro is that they can become an expression of universal love- healing by joining the vibratory field that exists all around us..the Akasha, the great energy field: in the world of the Shipibo "the skin of Ronin"..the skin of the universe. It is the connection to sound, tone, direction and intention that transport the effect of the icaro beyond the confines of language and simple words... "Healing songs are thoughts, sung out with the breath when people are moved by great forces and ordinary speech no longer suffices" (Annette Host, writes of the Nordic Sedrh ~ Songs of Enchantment) We have been singing healing Icaro to people at events and gatherings this last year and the feedback we have received is greatly encouraging; the healing power of the song is often felt strongly and instantly. People experience the loving connection. Recovery from even chronic conditions is often mentioned.
