UK, SALISBURY, WILTSHIRE - Advanced Gong Training with Aidan McIntyre, Aidan McIntyre, Studio Britford Sound Therapy and Yoga Centre, Britford, SP5 4DU, Salisbury, 03 Dec 2016

The purpose of Part 2 weekend training is to take time over the following topics and cover them in depth so that practitioners feel confident and knowledgeable. It is an opportunity to practice under the guidance of Aidan and there will be 1-2-1 sessions with him during each day. It is also important to work together in small groups so that mini performances can be given for experience and feedback. Shamanic gonging: This is an area that is becoming more popular as people begin to hear and learn more about Shamanism and how it can accelerate knowledge of ourselves and aid healing. Using sacred instruments such as the conch shell, feathers, rattles, whistles and animal sounds, shruti and drums. Learn to pace a gong bath so that you can take participants on a journey that has structure and rhythm. Different mallets: Although this was covered in Part 1, using 10 mallets to play a gong is an art that needs practice. We learn how to bring out the personality of a gong, how to build an orchestra of sound with one gong and the importance of sandhya (silence) without losing the connection with participants. Learn how to listen and converse with the gong so that we follow the gong rather than play it. Playing in a group: This is an extremely powerful way to give sound therapy. It can be in a gong bath or a puja. Learn how to play as one body, listen to other players, play strokes together. The dance of the gong and its intricate steps can lead to a form of euphoric playing. Marketing: How to market your gong bath and gong therapy. How to reach an audience and have different themes. What is the ideal space. How to set up to maximise the experience. Using gongs in different situations: How does playing for children differ from playing in a hospice or a Recovery Centre? How gongs can aid healing? Although briefly covered in Part 1, there are different styles of playing that involve using the gong in a unique way according and specific to the situation. There will be time to practice as you will be put in groups of 3 and each group will play alone after practice. The course is designed for students already playing the gong who have had some training and wish to advance their technique and gain greater understanding and knowledge of this ancient and most powerful of sound instruments. Exchange: £225 (excluding accommodation, including Saturday & Sunday lunch). £100 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure a place. If you have any questions with regards to the training or you would like to make a booking, please contact Monika: [email protected] or 07748 022 067
