UK, SOUTH YORKSHIRE - Sacred Drum Day Retreat, Sara Teal, Worrall Memorial Hall, 49 Towngate Road, Sheffield, S35 0AR, 09 Mar 2025

?? Do you feel the deep pulse of the drum but aren’t sure how to harness its power?
?? Are you being called to the sacred drum but want to go deeper than just ‘playing’?
?? Are you a yoga teacher, sound healer, or wellness practitioner looking to integrate the drum into your work with confidence?
Too often, I see people bringing sound instruments into their sessions without truly understanding how to play them, hold space with them, or respect their power. Sound is more than just a tool—it’s a profound energetic force that interacts with the nervous system, consciousness, and healing on deep levels. If you feel called to work with sound, it’s time to do so with skill, depth, and intention.
?Sound Instruments aren't just aesthetic objects - they're powerful tools that can profoundly impact human neurological and energetic systems. Using them without proper understanding can:
disrupt healing processes
create unnecessary energetic turbulence
potentially cause psychological or emotional distress
diminish the true therapeutic potential of sound work
?The sacred drum is one of the oldest sound healing instruments, used across cultures for ritual, journeying, and transformation. Its deep, resonant pulse connects us to the heartbeat of the Earth, anchoring us in the present moment while opening pathways to expanded states of awareness. When played with intention, it becomes a powerful vessel for healing and deep inner work.
?What you'll learn:?
?? The energetic qualities of the drum—grounding, activating, soothing, and expansive states
?? How drumming interacts with the nervous system & different states of consciousness
?? Technique & resonance—so you actually know how to play it properly
?? Holding space—when, why, and how to integrate the drum into your practice
? Common misuses & pitfalls
??? Experience the Drum – The day will include a specially curated sound bath, allowing you to feel the drum’s resonance alongside complementary instruments, deepening your connection to its power.
?This is the first in a series of deep-dive retreats exploring sound healing instruments—stay tuned for upcoming sessions on gongs, healing bowls, and voice.
?The retreat will flow as follows, creating a balance of learning, practice, and reflection:
9:30 AM – Welcome & Grounding (with cacao)
Begin the day with an intention-setting circle and grounding exercise to connect with the energy of the drum. We’ll also enjoy a nourishing cacao ceremony to open the heart.
10:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Instruments/Practical Session
Dive into a hands-on exploration of the drum, along with discussions on your experiences, insights, and any questions you have about working with sound. We’ll explore techniques, energetic qualities, and practical application.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM – Lunch (Vegan/GF)
Enjoy a light, delicious, and nourishing vegan and gluten-free lunch, designed to support your energy for the remainder of the day.
1:00 PM – 2:15 PM – Sound Bath with 3 Instruments
Experience the drum in action as part of a sound bath, alongside two other complementary instruments. We’ll explore the differences and similarities in how each instrument interacts with the body and mind.
2:15 PM – 3:15 PM – Reflections & Questions
This final session is dedicated to reflection, discussion, and any lingering questions. It’s your time to absorb the day’s teachings and integrate your learning.
3:15 - 3.30 PM – Closing circle
End the retreat feeling grounded and aligned with new insights to carry forward in your practice.
?Please note: This is not a shamanic drum session or a drum circle. While you’re welcome to bring your own drum, it is not necessary to fully engage with the session. You’re also welcome to experience playing my drums, but I will not be providing drums for participants to use. Please come with your own instrument if you like.
