UK, STROUD GLOUCESTERSHIRE - winter solstice spiral, neesa couple, St Lawrences Church, Stroud., 20 Dec 2020
This is a really lovely annual multi faith event , held in the nave of the main parish church, right in the centre of Stroud. A spiral labyrinth will be laid out, made from evergreen boughs, and initially the only light in the church will come from a single candle in the centre. Everyone is invited to walk the labyrinth, and to light their own candle from the central flame.
This is a time for quiet contemplation on the passing of the year.
Through the course of the event many community musicians will contribute to the soundscape. I will be playing hand pans and gongs from 5-6 on Sunday and again from 4-5 on Monday.
