Gather around the “songwriting campfire” with award-winning singer-songwriter, composer and talented storyteller Dan Whitehouse and artist mentor Katie Whitehouse. Experience a playful approach that will help free your mind, connect you with your inner child and light new pathways in your songwriting.
The approach to this course will be playful. You will be guided through musical and lyrical games and exercises, free-writing, and connecting with self and nature, into new realms of creativity.
Exercises will involve working by ear, through improvisation, and are not music theory-based. You do not have to play a musical instrument to do this course but are invited to bring one if you do.
Over the duration of the course, raw material will be generated, new songs may be formed, and compelling first-line and catchy melodies will be written, with engaging stories and emotion will be at the centre. Ideas will be shared around the “songwriting campfire”, allowing them the light, air and warmth they need to develop and grow as you discover, or re-discover, your unique voice.
