Greece, Singing, DruYoga & Sound Meditation Retreat on the beautiful Greek Isle of Agistri, Trixi Field, Rosy's Little Village, 18010 Agistri-Skliri, Greece, 06 Oct 2013
INNER PEACE & CALM THROUGH SINGING, SOUND MEDITATION & DRU YOGA, ACCOMPANIED BY THE GENTLE LULL OF THE SARONIC SEA. This relaxing & refreshing 1-week retreat takes place on 6-12 October 2013 on Agistri, a delightful tiny island nestling in the Saronic Sea, close to Aegina. Only a fairly short hop by boat or hovercraft from the port of Piraeus, once there, it feels as though you're a million miles from the stresses of everyday life. Accommodation, breakfast, and the courses take place at Rosy's Little Village, with fantastic views over the sea, towards Aegina. WHAT IS THE RETREAT ALL ABOUT? Here’s a chance for you to get away from it all for a week, to spend the mornings in a beautiful setting, in gentle, mindful activity, but with sufficient time to yourself later in the day to visit the beaches, spend time on the terrace or perhaps to do a spot of sightseeing. THE SCHEDULE Sunday 6th October: Arrival, welcome & settle in. Get to know each other and chat about how the courses run. For those who have a bit of energy after the journey, we might take a little stroll through the main village of Skala. MON 7th - 11th OCTOBER: First thing: Early morning Dru Yoga class on the terrace overlooking the sea. Ideally at dawn – Agistri dawns are splendid and worth getting up for! Some sessions may take place in other beautiful locations nearby. Sessions will last around an hour to an hour and a quarter. Following this, a sumptuous breakfast supplied by our lovely host, Rosy. Around 10.30 am: Sing for Joy singing workshop on the terrace. Pre-dinner (or pre-bedtime) sound meditation or chanting either on the terrace or in other locations nearby. Afternoons are free for you to enjoy exploring all the lovely little corners of Agistri, enjoy some other activities as available, visit the nearby island of Aegina or simply to lounge in the sun, if you so choose. SAT 12 OCTOBER: As some people may be flying back on this day, there will only be Early morning Dru,and the Sing for Joy workshop. Those who are taking evening flights may need to depart at or just after lunch. MORE ABOUT SING FOR JOY This workshop is not about perfection or performance, but about learning to appreciate and enjoy our voices without automatically switching on our inner critics. The sessions combine the essential tools of singing – breathing, mindful listening, vocal techniques – with uplifting songs and harmonies for your enjoyment. Don't worry about whether you think you can or can't sing: Trixi provides an empathic and supportive group context where you can explore and learn to appreciate your own voice, and delight in the warm companionship of group singing. MORE ABOUT DRU YOGA Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. It has its roots in hatha yoga, and includes classical yoga postures (asanas), pranayama (breath) mudras (hand gestures), positive affirmations, empowering visualisations and powerful sequences performed in a flowing and dynamic style. Over the week we will be practicing one or more of the Dru Energy Block Release sequences and one or more of the beautiful yoga sequences. Don't worry if you have never done Dru or any other form of yoga before. The class is aimed to suit the needs and abilities both of beginners and those who have some experience of Dru or any other form of yoga. MORE ABOUT SOUND MEDITATION This involves a number of tools: -breathing and enjoying the natural resonance of our voices in a gentle meditative way; -becoming aware of our own sounds, of the sounds in the space in which we find ourselves, and the sounds outside of this space; -learning to listen and accept: listening without judgement, becoming aware of the colours, hues and textures of sounds around us that we might otherwise ignore or even try deliberately to shut out, allowing these sounds to blend in and become part of the moment. It’s a way to become mindful of the world of sound around and within us, and allowing it to become a tool for meditation, even when we cannot find a silent spot. MORE ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR Singer, voice workshop facilitator, pianist, author & composer, Trixi believes that in our noisy, busy, hi-tech society we have become separated from the simple, healing joys of singing and music making together—an essential part of being human. She has an MA (music education),an MEd a DipLCM in Popular Vocals, and has trained in Creative Music Making in the Classroom (Orff Institute, Mozarteum, Austria,) and jazz (Trinity College of Music, London). She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners' Network. Trixi has frequently observed the healing and mood-enhancing effects of singing and music-making, and, thus inspired, is now also a fully qualified Sound Healing Practitioner and Tutor with the College of Sound Healing. Her voice workshops count as an additional module for the College. Trixi's love of yoga has prompted her to train to teach Dru Yoga at the Dru Centre in Snowdonia.
