UK, GLOUCESTERSHIRE - The Alexander Technique, Robin and Béatrice Simmons, Hawkwood, Painswick Old Road, Stroud GL6 7QW, 24 Jul 2020

In this course, we emphasise the fundamental principles of the Alexander Technique and also make sure to address the needs and enquiries of each participant. The Technique can be applied to any activity so we are always interested to convey how its application may enhance any activity that interests participants, both to boost performance and to eliminate pain. It raises your consciousness and awareness in every movement.
We are surprisingly unaware of how we use ourselves in our moment-to-moment everyday activities.
By eliminating harmful movement habits, and habits of reaction, we can gain self-mastery.
You will take away immediately applicable practical procedures for lifelong improvement of any activity.
During the weekend we give 9 group classes and each participant also receives 3 private individual sessions.
Every participant will learn practical procedures they can apply in their daily living activities, or to their activities of personal special interest. There are time

With her storied career in utilizing soundscapes to uplift and empower, Chloë Goodchild returns to Hollyhock alongside her daughter and jazz pianist, Rebecca Nash. Fresh off the release of their joint album, Deep Listening: Spoken Song Series Volume 1, they will be presenting a unique experience focussed on the art of ‘spoken-song making’.

The Spoken Song technique was incepted when Chloë went on tour with acclaimed Rumi translator and poet, Coleman Barks. This informed the album between Chloë and Rebecca, in which they explore the spoken song modality further through the use of vocal and piano-based sounds.

Spoken Song: Discover your Musical Mind will develop your creative vocal expression through an exploration of the musical mind, focussing on the transformative shift you can make from the “busy, stressed” everyday emotional moods into a deeper layer of self-compassion and introspection.

UK, RADSTOCK, SOMERSET - The healibg Power of Vocal Sound, James D'Angelo, The Ammerdown Centre Ammerdown Park Radstock BA3 5SW, 14 Aug 2020

The course is centred on producing various kinds of pulsating toning using vowels, consonants and seed syllables. Such sounds are both external and internal so that the end result is a form of meditation. Concordant with these practices are natural sound rituals such as laughter and humming. Some of these practices incorporate gentle movements to encourage and direct the sound. Tuning forks are explored as a way of passively attuning to pure sounds. The quality of the voice is not the issue , only the deep intent to a purification of our psychology that also gives benefit to the body and spirit.
