The magic of Phi has everything to do with our life’s mastery!

Themagic of Phi has everything to do with our life’s mastery!
Researchershave been fascinated with when is the best time in one’s life to create theirbest and most highly creative works. The results are stunning!
Einstein once said, A person whohas not made his great contribution to science before the age of 30 will neverdo so. However, at that time thelife expectancy of people was less than it is now. A 2011 studyfound that physicists now make their most stunning discoveries at age 48.[1]Researchers analyzed 525 Nobel Prize winners in physics, chemistry and medicine from 1901 to 2008. Theycompared how the age of peak creativity, measured by the average age at whichNobel laureates did their prize-winning work, varied changed over time. The age at which scientists make important contributions is getting olderover time, Researcher Weinberg toldLiveScience.

Assemblage Point

The Assemblage Point is one of the most important parts of our energy anatomy. If the Assemblage Point is out of alignment it will affect the chakras and the meridians. The Assemblage Point affects our level of energy and our emotional state. I am running a workshop on the Assemblage Point in 2014. The Effect of Sound on Consciousness - An invitation to take part in research - Closing Date 20th December

I am researching the effect of Sound on consciousness for an MSc in Applied Music Psychology at Roehampton University and would be grateful for your urgent assistance. I have chosen to extend the deadline for the research because the more respondents we have, the more weight the research holds.

Together we can make a difference in the sound therapy community by understanding more about how sound affects consciousness and as a result, the potential therapeutic application of sound within the mainstream.

If you would like to take part you will need a set of headphones and approx 45 minutes of uninterrupted time.

Please click on the first link and listen to the soundfile. This ends after 26 minutes with silence and three chimes. Please click off at this point and click onto the next link which will take you to a questionnaire which should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

The data is confidential - I cannot see who has responded - only the country in which you are

At our recent College of Sound Healing Conference Professor Surinder Singh said that if we have a blockage in our chakras we would be dead! It would be better to use the word imbalance.

Awakening Your Soul Song

Your authentic singing voice is the muscle and messenger of your soul. As unique as your fingerprint and DNA, your soul has a melody, a rhythm and a resonance this is uniquely yours too. You are the only one who can really express what matters to you. When your true or naked voice awakens your soul song, this original song reveals who you really are.

Last Workshop of the Year

On the weekend of November 23rd and 24th I will be teaching my last workshop of the year. This will be a two-day Gong Intensive weekend - an immersion into the gong teachings for two days, which will strongly connect participants with these powerful healing instruments, and kick-start their own personal journey with the gongs, wherever it leads : whether for personal healing, spiritual advancement, or to work with others therapeutically. I still have a couple of spaces left for this workshop and there is still time to book if you want to attend. Please email me for an information flyer giving all the details, or do get in touch if you have any further questions : sheila@healingsound.net

New Therapy Space in Buckfastleigh, Dartmoor

One of the results of my recent house move is the creation of a new Gong Therapy space in the centre of the quaint old town of Buckfastleigh in south Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor. I am no longer giving one-to-one gong treatments and lessons in my home since the move. Over the last few weeks, as well as moving down to south Devon, I have taken a studio space in a very old building in a lovely cobbled courtyard off Fore street in central Buckfastleigh, and have been re-furbishing it as my new therapy space. Its coming on nicely and will be ready for use within the next week. I will be giving one-to-one gong treatments there, plus private lessons, and occasional small workshops, talks, demonstrations, and small group gongbaths. I also plan to hold a chanting evening there once a month. This will probably be on the 2nd Thursday of every month starting on December 12th, but do keep an eye on the website News page for further details and updates : www.healingsound.net/news.htm My gong

What I Do

I run a holistic singing tuition practice called Connected Voice in Melbourne Australia. Connected Voice came about when it was felt there was a need to offer singing tuition that was holistic and worked with the whole person and not just their voice.
I work with individuals and groups on bringing more awareness to the body and allowing a gentle unfolding and claiming of the natural voice. Nominating any physical or emotional blocks that come up along the way, allowing for true healing and joy-full and harmonious ways of singing to emerge.
The people I see vary greatly from children to elders, from professionals to those who have never sung out loud in front of anyone before. All have one thing in common – the love to sing and express themselves and the inner knowing that it should come easily and freely.

Strings of light

In 2009 while I was visiting Auroville (Tamil Nadu, India) for the first time, I discovered the Anantar (Koto-Tampura). This exquisite musical instrument produced by my friend Aurelio at Svaram (svaram.org) consists of a small tampura (like the flat travel ones) and eight metal strings that can be tuned by moving wooden bridges under the strings, like in a koto. As soon as I tried it, I was mesmerised by the beauty and richness of its sound and I decided to buy one. Since then the anantar has become a fundamental element in my musical set. I play it in concerts, group meditations, group and individual healing sessions... as well as for my own pleasure! The range of the harmonic texture of this simple yet magical instrument creates a unique soundscape in which people enter a soothing, dreamlike state that allows a safe journey to the depth of ones being. I receive many feedbacks from people saying that, after the “journey”, they come back with a calm and

Sound and Colour

Sound becomes more meaningful with duration and intent, which is why I believe toning and mantras are so powerful. On Nov 17th I will be performing a vocal sound bath for a small audience in a House Concert in Adelaide. Not exactly toning and mantra, but not excluding it either. Once I really found my voice, I discovered the joy of holding a note and exploring its harmonics and different timbres. With the added element of colour, I am guided to explore the heights and depths of the messages and healing powers behind the vibrations of sound and colour. Come join us for the intimate concert in Adelaide, South Australia. More information on my events page

Sanskrit Chanting

I recently went to a chanting evening in a Yoga centre. The man leading the chanting got everyone to chant the mantra Om Namaha Shivaya. Unfortunately he had no understanding of Sanskrit and the mantra had no power. He shortened Namaha to Nama which lost the aspirated ha sound which takes the energy into the heart. He sang Shiva as Sheeva. This is a very common mistake. In Sanskrit the short Sh sound is produced by touching the tongue on the upper palate. The i sound is a short vowel sound. The i sound is similar to the word ink. In Sanskrit the mantra is written Om Namah Sivaya (see link for correct Sanskrit). This tells us that the first a sound in Shivaya is a long a sound as in eye and the second a sound is a short a sound as in the vowel sound in cup. Once we learn to sound these sounds correctly we will get the full power of the mantra. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om_Namah_Shivaya

Sound Healing with Pythagorean Tuning Forks and Toning

I would like to present my digital album Weaving the Sound. In this recording I used a set of pythagorean Tuning Forks, also known as “Solar Harmonic Spectrum”, covering a full octave (or Diapason). The musical intervals of this set are based on the Pythagorean Tuning, that is, the single frequency of each tone of the scale is derived from the Harmonic Series. Harmonics can be considered as the “natural” musical system, as they obey fixed mathematical laws, and they manifest specific proportions that can be found everywhere in nature. The full recording can be found HERE The human body is also based on this system. In particular the 2/3 ratio (the musical fifth) is the most recurring and determines the proportions between the size of different parts of our bodies. The resonance with the Perfect Fifth (and other pythagorean intervals) which, since ancient times, has been considered to have great balance qualities on the nervous system.

Breathing

Our greatest source of energy is our breath. The amount of energy we have at any time is determined by our breathing pattern. If we are stressed our breathing becomes shallower and we tighten our abdomen.

Breathing deeply helps us to connect to the present moment. Thich Nhat Hanh the Vietnamese Buddhist monk says: - “Breathing in I Calm my Body, Breathing out I Smile, Dwelling in the Present Moment, I know that this is a Wonderful Moment.”

As we sing we press the air out of our lungs with our diaphragm. If our breathing is shallow or constricted this will be reflected in our voice. We will run out of air very quickly and our voice will be weaker than others.

Many people have acquired the habit of shallow breathing in order to protect themselves from a hostile environment. Those who have grown up in a violent or unsafe home would try to breathe in as little of it as possible.

Others with shallow breathing have experienced a trauma which literally took their breath aw
