Chakras

There seems to be a great deal of confusion about chakras. Some people say there are seven, some say twelve while some say that chakras are no longer relevant. My belief from working with chakras for over twenty years is that they are representative of levels of consciousness which we move through in our lives. The consciousness of humanity is gradually expanding to become more aware of the needs of others and the planet as a whole. Sounds from the Ear

On the 21st of February, Ill be reintroducing the foundation behind the Davis Addendum to the Tomatis Effect that not only does the voice produce what the ear hears but also that the ear emits the same stressed frequencies as the voice and when the correcting frequency is resubmitted to the ear, the voice regains coherence and the brain supports the body better, to the Making Sense of Sounds conference in Plymouth, England. My theory is that the spontaneous otoacoustic emissions from the ear provide information about what the body wants to self-heal. I also will be presenting this in my upcoming book, The Cycle of Sound: A Missing Energetic Link. I post for discussion and ask if others know of other researchers interested in the same topic? The possibility of sharing and growing this concept is exciting for me.

Dissonance to Heal Deep Pathlogy is different to the hearing dissonance

If we talk about dissonance in Sound Healing, the whole question is to know if we are talking about our musical comfort in listening to the music, or if we are talking about the use of acoustic sound for real healing purpose.

It is clear that when I shave in the morning I will not listen to dissonant music such as Shoenberg, Xenakis or Stockhausen, as I will risk cutting my moustache in a rough way. I prefer Antonio Carlos Jobim or Debussy !

But when it comes to healing a deep pathology, its another question, and so another approach is required.

In my sound/cellular experiment conducted in 1981, which documented the impacts of acoustic sound on human cells, (http://tama-do.com/roothtmls/cell-research.html) I found that by using a series of dissonant notes (the chromatic scale), cancer cells (in vitro) exploded.
In my conclusion, (spelled out with color photos in my new book, The Tao of Sound) I noted that dissonant acoustic sound progressively d

The Rub

Dissonance results from friction and in turn creates friction. Without friction there is no life and life is movement. The easier we can allow ourselves to move freely with friction, the easier we can move with life.

Some thoughts on dissonance.

In my earlier years as a musician I found that I had a preference for harmony and sweet chords, despite the attempts of my fantastically avante garde composer piano teacher to educate my ear to strange and wonderful chords and structures. I remember learning a very wierd and wonderful dissonant chordal arrangement on piano for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. However, once his influence left my sphere, I turned habitually back to the sounds and pieces I liked, and the compositions I wrote were mostly harmonious in chord structure and melody.

Now, since training as a sound therapist and facilitating Colours We Sing workshops, I have come to value very much the dissonance and the stronger waves of vibration caused by dissonance. The question came to me this morning how can we learn to appreciate harmony if we first have not embraced our dissonance?. Eating cake all day can make you feel a bit sick. Dissonance can be likened to the way we feel when we meet someone that rubs us up t

Dissonant Discussion

Tama Do Academy uses Dissonance as one of our key techniques. When the body has manifested crystallizations that become lumps, bumps, rigidity or tumors etc then dissonant sound (two Tuning Forks of consecutive notes, with 1/2 a tone interval eg C# &amp D) will help to break these down when placed on the body.

Fabien Mamans cell research showed that within a laboratory, abnormal cells (he used cancer cells) could not withstand dissonant sound and would explode, yet healthy cells were flexible enough to allow dissonant sound to pass through them and leave them unchanged. When the healthy cells recognized their Fundamental note (each person has one) they expanded into a beautiful Mandala containing complementary colours.

So while dissonant sound maybe difficult to listen to, it helps to diminish the adherence when used directly on the body, as we do when we use Tuning Forks placed on precise acupuncture points.

On the other hand, the aura always positively responds to sub

THE DISSONANCE OF FUNCTIONAL HARMONY

The gong produces dissonance and consonance together and it is called functional harmony or holistic resonance. The result of bathing in this oceanic tone alchemy is the sensing of a dynamic peace. This electrified state is called Gong Nidra. The brain is both awake in its awareness of its awareness and simultaneously it is asleep suspended in its dream body. The theory of dissonant harmony was expressed by Dane Rudhyar in the beginning of the 20th Century, and was an outgrowth of Alexander Scriabin’s Mysterium Tremendum Concept of Initiatory music. All the previous articles submitted to the forum have been spot on, and this is just an addendum. As a final thought in this short response, I will say that the entire universe owes its existence to the Holistic Resonance of the OM vibration throughout the micro/macro continuum. The substance of the gong field is of an Akashic nature and is a direct product of the PHI phenomena that sub-structures the Cosmos. The universal proliferation of

On Dissonance

Dissonance is such an important part of our work at BAST. If you were to liken consonance to the wonderful sweeping effleurage movements that a massage therapist makes then dissonance is the chopping motion they use to help break down the knots. Ones relationship with dissonance is the most important thing. When working with clients or in a group setting I am fascinated by the response that some people have to dissonance. For example - several people are in a group and on the receiving end of a beat frequency created by two crystal bowls a semi-tone apart. One says they love the sound and it was like a spaceship, another says it reminded them of a helicopter flight they took over the barrier reef on holiday (which was a wonderful experience for them) the third said that it made them feel sick and fearful. So the experience of the third person is the one to focus on. Why? because at the point of resistance the greatest transformations are possible. Fear or any other emotion or b

"Lifemusic - Connecting People to Time" Reviewed by Andrew Hodges

Rod Paton, one of the worlds foremost authorities on improvisation, has provided us, in his latest book LifeMusic, with a significant addition to the research. LifeMusic is a fresh look at improvisation and our involvement with it whether we are musicians or not. Many classically trained musicians will feel challenged by the book but if the reader is open to the exploration of new musical territory they may find huge reward in its pages.
LifeMusic, in essence, is a book about our relationship to the creativity offered by our ability to make sound together. It addresses the impact of the recent development of cultural imbalances which have created, in our time, a sense, for many, of musical impotence. Consumer-oriented imperatives have led to a disconnect of musical experience. Rod describes how most musical experience is now often once-removed from our ability to enjoy the direct expression of soul. Rods LifeMusic project, a series of teachings and experiential w
